Media pitches resulted in coverage in the Independent Weekly, Chapel Hill News, Durham News, Cary News, Raleigh News and Observer, UNC’s Daily Tarheel, Wake Forest Weekly, Mooresville Tribune, Chapel Hill Magazine and WCOM radio.
When the Inter-Faith Council for Social Service celebrated its 40th anniversary, I created the “Celebrating 40 at 40” campaign in which 40 individuals and groups who had contributed to the success of the organization were recognized. This hook ensured that local media covered the annual awards dinner at which the 40 individuals were honored.
In addition, The Chapel Hill Herald offered the Inter-Faith Council 40 weekly columns in which to profile each of the honorees. I wrote some of these profiles and arranged for two UNC journalism students to write the rest. For very little money, the Inter-Faith Council received weekly positive exposure in the local media for nearly a year. Two of the articles can be viewed below.
